Alien Camp 2007

This weekend was spent at 'Alien Camp' at the Palouse Divide Lodge. This idea was concieved many months ago with our friends, The Harder Family. Their son, Reed, celebrates his birthday on April 6th, the day after Josie, so we decided to throw a joint birthday weekend getaway.

Why aliens and the Palouse Divide Lodge? Good question! While on a scrapbook retreat the owner greeted us scrappers while wearing his crazy alien costume. He then said that they have had several groups at the Lodge who have witnessed UFO sightings in the skies over the area. Since Josie and Reed are both into alien phenomenom this was the perfect place for a family retreat.

Saturday morning. This alien crash landed while looking for the birthday kids. He came bearing alien eggs. The eggs were scattered due to the crash land and the kids had to search for them.

Another fun activity we did was geocaching. There were several locations in the vicinity from where we were. The kids loved the treasure hunt and traded a few of the trinkets found. This is something our family would love get involved in.

Wearing the "official" Alien Camp T-shirts just outside our front door. The Palouse Divide Lodge is privately owned and is the property of what was the North-South Ski bowl. We were hoping for more snow for sledding but it all worked out well. Behind the kids way off in the distance you can see the lookout and old ski lifts.

A surprise visitor! This creature peeked into the windows of our cabin before any of the kids noticed he was there. Wade Harder,2, was very scared as he thought the alien was going to abduct his brothers Reed, 8, and Miles, 5. Reed ran after it yelling "We're peaceful humans!" The space creature motioned with his hands to get away as if telling us more of them would be coming. His visit was definitely a highlight. The kids all think he was fake as he had no suction cup fingers.

They come in peace! Jenny found these costumes right after Halloween. They were so hilarious to watch them all bound around and get into their alien character.

Pictures I wish I had captured were of our fridge and liquor cabinet. They were LOADED. Jenny and I happily sipped on Alien Secretions and we had other alien themed concoctions as well. While we drank the kids took time out to watch Men in Black and ET.

It was a very fun weekend and one I hope we make a yearly tradition.
