Signs I'm Getting Old #45

I subscribe to Yahoo! Music Unlimited which means I can listen to any full length album and/ or songs pretty much any time I want to . This morning while working on the computer I pondered for a bit as to what my ears wanted to listen to. Kanye West? Nah.... Justin Timberlake feat. Timbaland? Too upbeat for my mood this morning....Some nice indy tunes? Not really.... Emo Rock? I don't think so....

You'll never believe what I settled on. Simon & Garfunkel!!! When the hell did I start listening to Simon & Garfunkel???? And you know what? I'm enjoying it.

It's Not Easy Being Green

I had a big dilemma today in my quest for being green. I was at the grocery store and they had these neat canvas bags to buy to put your groceries in. These reusable bags will cut down (no pun intended) on trees being logged for paper and also the plastic bags won't sit for billions of years in landfills. "What a wonderful concept," I thought as I reached to grab myself a few of the bags and then it hit me..... I need the paper bags to put all my recycling in and the plastic bags to put our dog's poop in.

Boring Video of Butterscotch

This video isn't real exciting but I was just experimenting with adding video on the blog. She was starting to chase her tail but then quit, of course, the second I started filming. You can hear me groan when she doesn't perform for me. This video is from our digital camera so it's not that clear either.

Happy Valentine's Day

I spent the last few days sewing up some new Valentine's outfits for the girls' dolls: Ellie, Julie and Elizabeth. Josie and Annabelle were more impressed with the box of chocolates that came with the dolls than the effort I put in to getting them some new clothes. That's the way it goes in this household.

Nate and I don't have any lovey dovey plans this holiday. We never do. We're probably the most unromantic couples you'll ever meet. In fact our dinner plans are going to consist of something out of a box tonight. Something by Kraft. With no roses or chocolates in sight.

Do Not Eat Here

Our Sandpiper Grill experience was so bad I actually wrote a review for Yahoo! And it goes a little something like this:

Our family of four eats out a lot. We were sick of the usual chain restaurants in Moscow and wanted to try a locally owned one. Our entire dining experience at the Sandpiper Grill was something out of the Twilight Zone. Our first clue that something was awry was when we first entered the restaurant last night, a Saturday evening, and it was absolutely empty except for the adjacent bar. We were greeted right away by a nice young man and a young lady who looked to be in her late teens. She was very courteous and treated us well but the minute she went into the kitchen to either talk with the cooks or to get our food she started spewing profanities like the expertise of a sailor. Our two daughters, ages 10 and 8, were in shock.

When we finally recieved our dinners we had to send the seafood combo platter back as it looked to have sat in the fryer about 5 times longer than it should have. We did get a replacement only to have it look slightly less black as before. Time to change the fryer oil, guys!

The atmosphere inside the Sandpiper looked nice: a seaside theme with surfboards, sand and seashells but the compact flourescents have got to go. It's great that they're trying to conserve electricity but the lighting did nothing for the mood of the place. Our food looked like it was under interrogation. Terrible lighting.

We only finished about half of our $50 dinner and didn't bother taking the leftovers home. The young man who greeted us did his best to rectify our terrible dining experience but the damage had been done. We will never return to the Sandpiper Grill. We hope this review saves someone else the misery we went through.

The story doesn't end here though. It ends at 3 am last night when our 10 year old daughter threw up. A $50 well spent? Not in the least.
