Last night I was awakened in the middle of a dead sleep by what sounded like fireworks. POP! POP! POP! Nate was across the street visiting with our neighbors so I became paranoid because the man of the house wasn't around. I was also a little nervous because Nate is so curious I wouldn't put it past him to go out searching for the source of all that noise. As these thoughts were swirling through my a head another round of 'Pops' went off. Something about those 'pops' sounded more like gunfire than fireworks so I immediately (and scared s**tless by the way) went through the house and made sure doors were locked and the windows were shut. I grabbed the cell phone, because after watching so many movies, I didn't want the phone lines to get cut. I thought about calling Nate or 911, but again, I watch so many movies I thought for sure that I was just being too scared.
When Nate finally came home I asked if he'd heard it he said he did but a Moscow Police officer was in their gathering and he dismissed it as fireworks. Little did the officer know his place of employment was being shot at. Ironic, eh?
This morning we recieved a phone call from Nate's employee, Steve. The first thing he asked me was, "So did the gunshots keep you up all night?". The hair on the back of my neck stood up.
Here's the press release from the Moscow Police re: the incident. It took place about 6 blocks from our house.
When you see other events like this that take place in other towns you think, 'I'm so glad we live in a such a wonderfully safe community.' Now I realize that we're not really safe anywhere.

Sugar Low
An emergency hospital visit was almost in order last night. Josie was coming off a serious sugar high around 11:30 pm and was shaking and twitching ferociously. Her heart was also racing incredibly fast and she kept crying , "I don't want to die!!!" It was a heartbreaking but good lesson in that she won't consume: a Twix bar, a load of french fries, a king sized Reese's Peanut Butter Cup, a large bag of gummy bears, another Twix bar and 30 ice cream Dibs in one day.
Let me explain: We went to the bowling alley with friends and she had her own money so she was going to the candy bar vending machine every 15 minutes on the sligh so I couldn't catch her doing it.
She finally calmed down when we had the phone book out trying to figure out which Gritman hospital number to call (which one is it???). Nate lay with her until she went to sleep.
