Our Sandpiper Grill experience was so bad I actually wrote a review for Yahoo! And it goes a little something like this:
Our family of four eats out a lot. We were sick of the usual chain restaurants in Moscow and wanted to try a locally owned one. Our entire dining experience at the Sandpiper Grill was something out of the Twilight Zone. Our first clue that something was awry was when we first entered the restaurant last night, a Saturday evening, and it was absolutely empty except for the adjacent bar. We were greeted right away by a nice young man and a young lady who looked to be in her late teens. She was very courteous and treated us well but the minute she went into the kitchen to either talk with the cooks or to get our food she started spewing profanities like the expertise of a sailor. Our two daughters, ages 10 and 8, were in shock.
When we finally recieved our dinners we had to send the seafood combo platter back as it looked to have sat in the fryer about 5 times longer than it should have. We did get a replacement only to have it look slightly less black as before. Time to change the fryer oil, guys!
The atmosphere inside the Sandpiper looked nice: a seaside theme with surfboards, sand and seashells but the compact flourescents have got to go. It's great that they're trying to conserve electricity but the lighting did nothing for the mood of the place. Our food looked like it was under interrogation. Terrible lighting.
We only finished about half of our $50 dinner and didn't bother taking the leftovers home. The young man who greeted us did his best to rectify our terrible dining experience but the damage had been done. We will never return to the Sandpiper Grill. We hope this review saves someone else the misery we went through.
The story doesn't end here though. It ends at 3 am last night when our 10 year old daughter threw up. A $50 well spent? Not in the least.
